Foreword:

The band was started as a project for the cadets of 70 Squadron ATC in 2008. As interest grew, a band formed comprising of bagpipers and drummers. In 2010 the Squadron was led on their local Armistice parade by the band. This year has seen continued growth, we have a strong membership in the drum corps and progress is going very well. We have attended and played at functions in the North West of England throughout 2011. We have also provided pipers for many wing events over the last couple of years including, Wing dinner nights, Remembrance services and visits to other Squadrons.

The Cadets in the band are highly dedicated and commit themselves to extra parades in order that their normal Cadet activities are not affected. In 2012 we are working towards combining our resources with another local band to attend some Pipe Band competitions, we hope this will lead to us standing in our own feet in the not too distant future and take to the competition field in our own right and maybe even give our RAF cousins a run for their money!
